Some things make no sense at all

We had "Family Fun Day" yesterday! Our destination was a  Reptile and Amphibian Zoo a bit south of us. We had lots of fun learning about the animals, and with the Zookeepers right there, we asked questions and learned a few new things.
We Fed Turtles.......
Bonded with turtles

Two of the kids favorite MN turtles
.....and some of us slept (which was preferable to the screaming)

Simon was TERRIFIED of the rubber alligator that we stumbled upon while strolling around. Even after showing her it wasn't real and her brother stepping on it.....she still refused to go anywhere near it. Other then that we had a lovely visit with alligators (Big Al being the most impressive specimin), turtles, geckos, snakes, birds and a lizzards.
We planned our visit to be there for the show they have everyday, so we could learn a little more and see them handle the animals. It was quite fun and we were able to ask many questions and to our (well my) amazement we were able to touch a few of the animals.
Alvin has pet a snake before at the children's museum, but i do recall at Simon's age he was terrified of real and fake animals as well.
Alvin was all about the snake, and Simon wouldn't touch it........she got close, put her hand within inches of the snake, but ultimately decided it was WAY TO SCARY to pet a snake (i have to agree with her)
Then the Zookeeper brings out a alligator (i think her name was Sally.....the alligators name that is) and this is Simon's reaction

Can you see her smile? SHE LOVED THE ALLIGATOR!!
She must have pet this alligator like 10 times, poor Sally prolly never had a kid love on her so much!
How in the world is a kid deathly afraid of a fake rubber alligator and totally enamored with a real one! Go figure.....
